[IELTS로 미국가기] IELTS Average 6. Never be Difficult!

What should a well-organized essay be like?

There are no exact rules or formats to a proper essay. You must remember that. This is a big problem for many students (globally). Many people do not realize that you can say the same paragraph 100 ways. They feel they have to find the perfect vocabulary, perfect supporting details and examples, and a specific sentence/essay structure. However, you can be quite flexible with this. Be creative.

The most important thing to keep in mind is BALANCE. Don’t put too much information in and don’t leave important information out. For each point you make, you should give one or 2 details and one good example. If you only have one example in the essay, that’s fine. Don’t put more than 3.
Use smooth transitions to make your essay flow properly. A reader should never feel like they are jumping from one point to the next or one paragraph to the next. Everything should be connected.
You should have a strong introduction and conclusion (not boring). Don’t be too repetitive! Ignore what your middle school and high school teachers taught you about repeating the question sentence exactly in your introduction. Also, don’t repeat the exact same words in your conclusion. You can same the same thing, using different words. While your introduction should be attention-grabbing, your conclusion should have obvious, general statements. NEVER add new information in the conclusion.
